Starting a Telehealth Chat Via a Web Browser
Supported web browsers are Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Logging into your Telehealth account does not require separate login from Backline. NOTE: When connecting from a computer or laptop, it will need to have a built-in or attached camera and microphone.
- Log into your Backline account
- Select the 1-on-1 chat for the patient you want to have a Telehealth chat with by choosing
- 1-on-1 Chat
- External Chat, or
- Chat with Patient
- Once you are in the chat, click the Start Video Call link on the top of the chat window:
- On the next screen, Start or Cancel the Telehealth chat.
- After starting the Telehealth chat, wait for the individual to join the conversation
Once the individual joins, you will chat normally via the Telehealth connection. You will see the following icons:
Via a Mobile Device
- Log into your Backline mobile account as you usually do. Telehealth does not require a separate account login.
- Select the 1-on-1 chat for the patient you want to have a Telehealth chat with by choosing
- 1-on-1 Chat
- External Chat, or
- Chat with Patient
- Once you are in the chat, press the icon on the top right of the chat window
- On the next screen, you can Start or Cancel the Telehealth chat
- After starting the Telehealth chat, wait for the individual to join the conversation
- Once the individual joins, you can chat normally on the Telehealth connection. you will see the following icons:

Does the patient or recipient of the video chat need a Backline account?
No, they will not need a Backline account. As a Backline user, you will initiate the secure chat with the recipient and be able to initiate the video chat.
