Creating a patient typically starts from the Scheduler, however, a patient can be created from the Patient screen:
After you go to the Patient screen, either click F8 or the New Patient option on the left. In the Patient Information screen, the Chart Number can be either a unique number that you choose or it will auto-populate the first three letters of the last name, the first two letters of the first name and either 000 or the next number if there is already a chart that has the same combination of letters.
Before we go any further, let’s look at making Required Fields in this screen. To make recommended and required fields, you will go to Activities>Required Field>Patient Entry Setup:
You will them get the Setup Required/Suggested Fields screen:
To add a Recommended field, click once in the space that you wish to be recommended. To add a Required field, double click into the field. It is important to note that if you make a field required, it will not allow a patient to be saved without it. If it is a field that may not be able to be filled, but it would be appropriate to fill it, it is best to make it Recommended.
You will them click Save Changes or Shift F3:
Returning to entering the patient, you will then fill in any Required fields and all information that is needed to bill a patient:
You will them Save and Close or F3.
